House Breaking a Puppy? or is He House Breaking You?

January 4th, 2010

Are you in the process of house breaking a puppy and attempting not to mislay your mind at the same time? If so then I know just what you’re experiencing. I was at that place just a couple of short months ago. I recall how precious he was when I brought him home and how 1 month later on I was at the end of my leash with him.

I did precisely what you’re most likely doing right now. I envisioned I could determine the solution to my problem online. With so much free information drifting around I could surely come up with a passkey answer. So that’s just what I did. I researched all over and came up with what I believed was the master program. I’d have my puppy house-trained very fast.

It took me 3 weeks to determine how come all this information was freely available online. That was because it was deserving what I paid for it. I think my puppy was in reality worse once I finally abandoned my master program. We were not exactly the best of friends.

Then I resolved to visit a few online dog training discussion boards for some quality advice. Those people are bonkers if you ask me. I did not see how dressing Einstein in some colored apparel would help the situation. If you ask me clothes are for human beings and not your pets. That’s just my theory.

I was about to call it a day and allow him to turn my household into his own personal play pen. It was not that far from being one already. I decided to try one last thing. I discovered an internet site that offered a complimentary 6 day mini course of study. I envisioned that at this point it genuinely could not hurt. So I signed on.

I learned more from that course of study than I did from an entire month of looking for the answer. I then decided to try out their program. Allow me tell you that the video recordings that accompanied the course really showed me what I was doing incorrectly. 2 weeks later I could not conceive that the puppy in my home was the same one that I fought with for over 1 month. It was awe-inspiring.

Natural Approaches for House Breaking a Puppy

January 2nd, 2010

House breaking a puppy should start immediately, just after you bring him home. Even at only 7 or 8 weeks old, he wants to eagerly follow your lead…. it’s important to use puppy house breaking training that will help him develop the acceptable behavior. He will have no trouble deciding where to eliminate if you don’t choose for him. This, of course, is unacceptable. It is up to you to communicate what his only option is. Puppies will learn very quickly when they are clear about what they are to do

Dogs have a natural instinct not to eliminate in their den area and, because of their strong sense of smell, are drawn to go in areas where they or others have defecated or urinated before. You can exploit these natural tendencies in several ways.

Puppy crate training is undoubtedly the best way to take advantage of these natural instincts and basically involves using a plastic dog carrier ‘crate’ as the pup’s den or sanctuary. You should get him used to being secluded in the crate for short periods of time so that he comes to think of it as his refuge and is comfortable sleeping there.

The second way to use his instinctive tendencies is to read the signs that he wants to go, i.e. your puppy is circling and smelling around, and then to react immediately by taking him to the usual spot.

he will recognize the scent in the designated area and your persistence in getting him there will help him quickly understand. You will be even more successful if you are observant and pay attention to when he is most likely to go. Be ready to take him out when he wakes up, after playing or exercise, and after he eats or drinks.
